In 2025, we celebrate the 1700th anniversary of the world’s first Ecumenical Council, the Council of Nicaea of 325 AD, when 318 bishops of the Church gathered in defence of the Apostolic Faith. The Fathers defeated Arius and his followers, who denied the divinity of Christ. The fathers upheld the Church’s belief in a triune God. We proclaim this in the Nicean Creed.
