Weekly Bulletin | 11 to 18 April

Schedule of Services

The schedule of services for this week is available on our calendar. This week, being the Fifth Week of Great Lent we have Great Compline with the full canon of Saint Andrew of Crete with the reading of the life of Saint Mary of Egypt on Wednesday and the full Akathist Hymn on Friday.

The readings and sermon for the Fourth Sunday of Lent can be found on the Archdiocese website here.

The church is open for public worship under the guidance issued by our archdiocese. We will continue to broadcast our services live on mixlr.com when possible.

The Varnagian Guard Youth Club will be meeting next Sunday. Parents will receive communications via Whatsapp from Presvytera Catherine.

Painting of Church Ceiling

We have taken advantage of the fact that the scaffolding is up in the church to clean and paint the ceiling. This will be taking place until 21 April. Until the scaffolding is removed after 21 April the heating will be out of action so please bring warm clothes with you to church and please inform your elderly relatives who don’t get to read this bulletin to do the same.

Donations for the Epitafios flowers

Decorating our Church is an important tradition carried through the years by all Orthodox Christians. It helps us to open our hearts, to take part in our Lord’s Passion and rejoice for His Resurrection. Once again, we are asking for your generous donations to adorn our Lord’s Sepulchre with beautiful floral arrangements for the celebration of His Burial.

We all like to lay flowers on the graves of our beloved relatives and friends. Likewise we do the same on the Grave of our Lord Jesus Christ? Please put your donation on the relevant collection box during church services or send a donation via cheque or bank transfer giving as reference “Epitafios Flowers”. Your contribution will be greatly appreciated. For details for donating please see our Donations page.

Decorating Epitafios

The church is looking for volunteers to dress the Epitafios with flowers on Great Friday April 30 in the afternoon starting at 2.00. If you can volunteer please give your contact details to a member of the Church Committee.
