Scores of children turned up to enjoy festivities at our annual Saint Nicholas Festival on 4 December.
Each year our community holds a Saint nicholas Festival at the Serbian church of Saint Nicholas in Donnington, Telford. Saint Nicholas (aka Santa Claus) is one of the Church’s greatest saints and his feast day is celebrated across the world on 6 December. He is also a big part of Christmas Day celebrations when he comes down the chimney to fill stockings!
Our church celebrates each year with a festive gathering on the first Sunday in December. As is traditional, this year, our children left their shoes outside the church hall this year in hope that Saint nicholas brings them some gifts. There were also many craft activities, story telling and carols.
The highight of the day was when Saint Nicholas made an appearance in his episcopal vestments and gave the children their gifts.
