Archbishop Nikitas of Thyateira and Great Britain has awarded Presvytera Catherine the Archdiocesan Cross of Christ the Saviour on the occassion of her retirement.
As the country was preparing for the Big Help Out, to mark His Majesty The King’s Coronation, our community’s first lady and most dedicated volunteer received an award for her exemplary service.
On behalf of His Eminence, our community president, Nicholas Moore, presented Presvytera Catherine with the Archdiocesan Cross of Christ the Saviour. He presented the award at our Coronation celebration; all those gathered offered heartfelt applause and gratitude.
Nicholas read His Eminence’s address conferring the honour.
Archbishop Nikitas wrote: “For nearly four decades, you have humbly, prayerfully, and sacrificially offered your time, talents and treasures for the building up of your own family, as well as for the family of Christ’s holy Church … As a mother as well as a presbytera, the first lady of the parish, you wove quite beautifully the roles of motherhood, pilgrim, volunteer, leader and devout spouse. In our days, this is rare, and I am pleased that you have created a legacy and a standard to which other younger mothers and priest’s wives may follow.”
