Bishop Maximos

On 30 January His Grace Bishop Maximos of Melitene moved to the Midlands to assist His Eminence Archbishop Nikitas with pastoral and episcopal duties in the region.  We warmly welcome Bishop Maximos to the Midlands and look forward to his first visit to the Church of the 318 Godbearing Fathers very soon.  AXIOS! Feast of Saint Milburga

On 23 February we celebrate the Feast of our venerable Mother Milburga.  Saint Milburga Saint Milburga is one of the patrons of our Church.  There will be a Divine Liturgy for the Feast at 9.00am in the morning of the feast.

Cheesefare Sunday

On Cheesefare Sunday (Forgiveness Sunday) 6 March there will be a bring and share lunch in after the Divine Liturgy in Telford (no meat).

Visit of the Varangian Guard to Shrewsbury

On 20 March a local re-enactment group of Varangian Guard will visit the Varangian Guard Youth Club of our church.  The Varangian Guard were the household guard of the emperors of the Eastern Roman Empire in Constantinople.  In the later years of the Eastern Roman Empire before the fall of Constantinople to the Ottoman Turks the Varangian Guard included Anglo Saxon refugees and mercenaries from Britain.  The local re-enactment group will demonstrate tell us about the Varangian Guard, demonstrate some of the fighting techniques.  All are welcome to join take part in the event.

Our Archdiocese is appealing for funds to support its vitally important work to support the ministry of all of the churches of the Archdiocese.  We are looking for at least twenty families of our community who will be willing to support the Archdiocese with a monthly donation of at least £10 per month.
